LIFT BRIDGE UNCOVERED AT RODINGTON
The Rodington work party group has recently done some great work to expose the lift bridge structure at the eastern lane approach to the village. The stone and brickwork are mostly intact and have just been buried all these years. It’s only the brick wall approaches that have been knocked down and buried. The metalwork is mostly still there and from photographs, the timber lift bridge itself can be re-made. Watch this space!
This shot is looking east. The lane is just to the left of the tree with no leaves. The bridge hole is still full of earth, but the brick wall and coping stones can be clearly seen.
