Dear Members,Complementing IWA’s current campaign to Save Waterways Heritage, Shrewsbury District & North Wales Branch is delighted to host an online talk via Zoom on Wednesday, 8 December at 7.30pm featuring the iconic Ellesmere Yard, former headquarters of the Ellesmere Canal Company.In “Ellesmere Yard – Regenerating Waterways Heritage”, the Ellesmere Yard team talk about this historic asset dating back to 1806, the last surviving canal maintenance yard that is still being used for its original purpose.Presenters Tony Lewery, Nicola Lewis-Smith and Ruth Essex will speak about the past, present and possible future for the Yard. Tony is a respected local waterways historian and restoration expert, Nicola is Enterprise Manager (West Midlands) with Canal & River Trust, while Ruth is part of MAAP (Media and Arts Partnership) who are leading the Trust’s drive to find sustainable alternative uses for the Yard.As usual during IWA online talks, your cameras and microphones will be switched off on entry and during the webinar. You will of course have the opportunity to ask questions via the Question & Answer function, and the panellists will try their best to answer as many questions as possible.The webinar is open to members and non-members so if you know of anyone who may wish to attend please pass this message on.To register for the event, simply visit and provide the details requested.
