DONATED BOAT GETS A SPRING CLEAN

Member Janis Smith has generously donated her narrowboat to the Trust. Moored at Blackwater Marina in Ellesmere, nb Wittsend was in need of a bit of TLC and a good clean. Shrewsbury based members Alistair Price, Tony Perks, Martin, Ian and myself set out to the marina today to do the job. When we arrived we were surprised to find that the canal was frozen – and so was the rain water over the boat! But we soon got to work and lit the stove to melt the ice over the roof and used canal water, brooms and brushes to give one side of the boat a good scrub. We then started the engine and took the boat to the nearby CRT water point to enable the other side of the boat to be cleaned.
