COLD? WHAT COLD?

The 2nd January 2021 dawned cold and frosty. The concrete base of the East Basin at Wappenshall was frozen over. But did it put off our intrepid wall team? Nah, of course it didn’t! Here are few shots (courtesy of Jim Weir) that demonstrate the sheer determination the team has to finish this most important and challenging job.

Dave, Marion and Emily-Jane scrub the base wall formwork clean of concrete and apply mould oil, ready for the next section – whilst it’s snowing!

The wall base has now reached the half way point of its 42m length. You can see the ice everywhere!
