MEMBERS ONLY VISIT TO AN AWARD-WINNING GARDEN IN WATERS UPTON
By special arrangement, two of our long-standing supporters, Joanne and Andi Butler, are opening their delightful ½ acre cottage garden on Saturday, 4th July, from 2 – 5 p.m., just for SCNT members.

This will be your chance to see why Grooms Cottage, Waters Upton, won the BBC Gardeners’ World Gardens of the Year People’s Choice Award in 2024. Designed around a series of garden rooms and packed with travel-inspired water features, pergolas and creative landscaping.
Look out for the 150 varieties of hostas around the garden, along with 100 roses, herbaceous borders, oriental, tropical and alpine plants, and a productive herb and vegetable garden, many of which will be at the peak of perfection in July.

With an array of hidden gardens and quiet areas, there are delightful places to sit and enjoy the gardens with refreshments and cakes on sale; you can also meet some of our volunteers and find out more about the work of the Canal Trust.
The event will help raise funds to support the planting and garden maintenance at Wappenshall Wharf. Joanne is leading the development of the Community Garden, planning the planting, accessing funding, recruiting and assisting volunteers. For further information about the garden, including how to volunteer as a gardener, find the Facebook page, Wappenshall Wharf Community Garden.

Proceeds from both the ticket sales and the sale of tea and cakes will be donated to the Canal Trust. If you cannot make this date, the gardens are also open on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of June and on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July under the National Garden Scheme (NGS). The proceeds from the sale of teas and cakes over these four days will also be donated to the Trust. Entry is £6 for adults, free for children up to the age of 13, payable in advance via Eventbrite using this link – https://www.eventbrite.com/e/grooms-cottage-garden-private-opening-for-snct-members-tickets-1983948421134
