WE NEED TO SAVE THE CANAL THROUGH THE FLAXMILL SITE!

Can anyone reading this please object to the current planning application and get the Shrewsbury Canal’s restoration included?

You will firstly need to go the Shropshire Council’s Planning Portal at https://pa.shropshire.gov.uk/online-applications/ The landing page has near its bottom an empty box with the words “Enter a keyword, reference number, postcode or single line of an address” above it. Just copy and paste this Reference Number into it – 20/05065/OUT – and press the “Search” button. The next screen has a number of options a short way down in blue. Click the “Comments” one. The next screen has a “Not got a login? Register here.” Option. Click on this and fill in the details required on the next screen. Once you have registered, the system will remember you and you can make more comments on other applications in future, so you only need to do this once. Then just click on the “Next” button at the bottom.

Once having registered, please make sure you choose who you want be (an individual, or member of the public etc) hit the “Object” button and write something along the lines of: “The line of the Shrewsbury Canal has been crossed by a bridge that is too low and services that require to be lowered to enable the canal to be restored through the Flaxmill site. Therefore a condition of this application should be for the applicant to restore this section of the canal to include a suitable new bridge and to re-route the said services. This would be in keeping with Shropshire Council’s plans to protect the line of the canal from development that have been ignored on this site in the past months and provide the opportunity to rectify this wrong.” It would be best not to copy this verbatim, but put into your own words.

The more of us that do this, the more likely Shropshire Council will act to save the canal!
